Pallet sizes and what each one is for
A pallet is not one single size. Standard dimensions have grown up around different sectors and destinations. The wrong size leaves gaps in the trailer or fails to fit the racking, so getting the size right at the start matters.

If you are not sure which one fits, just give us the dimensions and rough weight of what you are carrying. If it is going into racking we will ask for the bay dimensions too, because a correctly sized pallet that does not fit the rack is no use to anyone.
What sets the price of a used pallet
There is no single list price for used pallets, because no two are identical. These are the main factors:
- Condition: are the boards intact, are there cracks or breaks, are the blocks sound. This is the biggest single factor.
- Size: standard, in demand sizes such as EPAL hold their value far better than odd custom sizes nobody is looking for.
- Quantity: unit price changes with volume. For a handful of pallets, transport cost dominates.
- Damp and mould: a pallet left out in the rain gets heavier and cannot be used for food or clean goods.
- Distance: the run between your site and our yard is part of the cost. The same pallet may not be worth the same across town.
- Seasonal demand: when shipping volumes rise, pallet demand rises with them and that shows in the price.
A practical tip: stack the pallets neatly, take a few photos and send the count. It is the fastest route to a price. If you are nearby we will come and look anyway.
New or used
Both have their place. The decision comes down to what the pallet will carry and how many times it will be used.

If you ship often and your pallets do not come back, used pallets take real pressure off the budget. If you are carrying food or shipping abroad, the options narrow.
Heat treatment and the IPPC mark
Wooden packaging leaving the country has to be heat treated and carry the IPPC mark. The rule is called ISPM-15 and it exists to stop pests travelling in timber. Unmarked pallets can be held at customs, and in some countries the whole load is turned back.
So if you export, "a solid pallet" is not a complete specification. Mention that the load is going abroad and we will point you the right way.
How to store pallets
Damp shortens pallet life more than anything else. A pallet sitting directly on soil in the rain gets heavy, goes mouldy and loses value within a few months. Keep them under cover where possible, raised off the ground and stacked neatly.
That matters both for your own use and for the figure you will be offered when you come to sell them.
